I think there has been one of their numerous printing mistakes in the logical problem, because I ended up guessing the answer when I sent off the answers. It wouldn't surprise me to find similar mistakes in the puzzles you mentioned . You are the second ABer to question a puzzle in last months magazine, and thats beside the peculiar European countries in the word search! If I hadn't won a prize recently, I would certainly not be renewing my subsciption next year, because there is nothing more time-consuming than trying to solve a puzzle when you don't trust the compiler's input.
