My Mum wants a new VCR (She will not have a Hard Disk PVR). It must be really easy to set up to record using the VideoPlus system or do they make them with on screen EPG (Electonic Programming Guide) perhaps ? Any recommendations ?

Yes, dont buy a VCR.

I have a Sky+ hard disk recorder and it is SOOOOO easy to use.

Bring up the EPG, choose a program and press Record and the box records it, even if it is days away. No need to specify the start or stop time or the day.

All the programs it has recorded are in an easy-to-see list and to play one I just select it and press Play. Once you have seen it you delete it.

You can also set series link where you say you want to record a whole series (Blue Planet for example) and it automatically records each episode for you.

Everything is in the one box, no tapes to worry about and keep track of.

If she has not got Sky then a cable or Freeview box with hard disk will probably offer similar features.

Thanks for that but she has a collection of old tapes and is adamant she wants a VCR.
You can get DVD-recorders / Video combo's. She will be able to put all her old videos onto dvd.
