How many more local words are there in the UK for an alley. I know of ginnels in Yorkshire and Twitchells in Nottinghamshire. Do you know any more?

Cutty is one I heard from my welsh Granny. Also causey is sometimes used in the southwest, though I think this is meant to refer to roads in general.

Cutty is an interesting one - my partner's family is from Northern Ireland and a 'cutty' there is a small child / baby.

'Snicket' was the word in Lincolnshire, also 'tenfoot'.

My sister lives in Lancashire and they call them Ginnels.

In Hull we call them tenfoots due to the fact that they are usually ten feet wide.
