Why can you no longer buy Brazil nuts in their shells

There was a toxin that could cause liver cancer found on the shells. Something to do with another EC ruling.
Tescos were selling them last year.
I was watching tv and when the trailers of brazil nuts arrived by boat they were all quarantined and samples taken for analysis to search for poisenous toxins in there shells. Only when the shells were passed ok could they go on to there supermarket destinations
