My Ideal Classic NF60 boiler has developed a fault where it runs for a few minutes, then cuts out and tries to relight itself, but the fan doesn't start, so it keeps clicking and failing to light. If it is then turned off and left for a couple of minutes and the thermostat behind the front panel is turned up from its usual setting of 4 to say 5, it then fires OK and runs for a few more minutes until it cuts out and the cycle repeats. When it does light OK the fan is running pefectly and all looks normal. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

It may be a faulty thermostat. It sounds as if the thermostat is switching the boiler off as soon as it starts to sense any kind of warmth. You then have to turn it right up to get it to run, after which time it settles down.

However, there are several other things it could be so it is best to get it checked by a heating engineer. That's my guess from your description E39, as I had something similar when my thermostat failed.
