After the birth of our second baby my wife started taking Cilest on the first day of her period, after 16 days she is still menstruating though. Is this normal after pregnancy or should she see a doctor??

i dont know what cilest is but, a woman can menstruate for up to 5-6 weeks after the birth of baby.

Thanks devilwoman - Cilest is a contraceptive pill. Just to clarify, she had the normal bleeding straight after the birth for a few weeks then while breastfeeding she didnt start her proper period for another 4 months when she stopped feeding, would this period be expected to last 5-6 weeks aswell or are you referring to the initial bleeding straight after the birth...?
According to the net doctor any breakthrough bleeding should be reported to your doctor. Better to be safe.
every woman is different and the periods can take a long time to return to what we call... normal , its quite normal for it to be erratic for six months or more, but if you're really worried and she is losing large blood clots or has any unusual pains then get her to the doctors ad check it out.
congrats on your second baby, and good luck to you and your wife.
