By this age, your daughter's ears are fully formed, and as advised, surgery will correct this. If you feel she will suffer from teasing or self-conciousness, then I would consider asking for a referal for surgery. My youngest daughter had her ears re-modelled by NHS surgery when she was ten, in time for her start at high school, and was very glad she did. The surgery is simple, the recovery is relatively swift, and the soreness doesn't last long. Aim for the summer holidays if possible - your daughter will need to wear a 'turban' bandage for a few weeks,
hi, i dont know if this is too late but i had surgery on my ears when i was 13 and i am now 16 and it was the best thing i could have done. I have so much more self confidence now and i feel better about myself. She may not have any complaints now but if she does listen to them. I sufferd for ages and as far as i am concerned, i belive that the younger she is when she has the surgery theless impact it will have on your life.trust me, she will thank you afterwards. And it is perfectly normal to seccond guess your self afterwards, i did. I kept wondering if it was really worth it but a while after i realised that was just nerves and im better off after having it done. And if you go to your G.P. they can help you to organise having it done on the NHS like i did.hope this is helpfull!
