Wheres the cream gone that used to be on the top of milk bottles when I was a kid? thick and lovely it was (not unlike me)

It's still there if you buy full cream (silver top) milk in bottles. The plastic bottles do not seem to have it, and you don't get it with slimmed or semi-skimmed. As kids we would scrap over who got the cream on our rice krispies, but it was disgusting in a cup of tea.
isn't it because it's homogenised (dunno of spelling) so the fat/cream is distributed evenly throughout the bottle instead of shaking it. i may be lying though...
I remember my grandparents having gold top milk which had like an inch of cream. would watch the birds peck at it in the winter when the milk froze and expanded the milk out of the top of the bottle...then watching the cat try and catch the bird...give up and go for the cream instead!
the missing cream in plastic bottles is indeed because it is homogenised by the supermarkets in a squalid moneygrubbing exercise. Search the archive for homogenisation for details.
