Just wondering if anyone knows the reason why stopping smoking/cutting down gives me a terrible sore throat?!

I think that most bacteria dont grow well in toxic smoke filled conditions,therefore when people smoke bacteria find it difficult to grow in their mouths and throats.When you stop smoking the bacteria can grow better.
