Put water in oil tank by mistake

I accidently put 1litre of water in the oil tank in my BMW 320i. I am assuming it will need draining but can I drive it?????

no, i would'nt will be an expensive mistake, get a helpfull man too drain and flush your oil system
it'll be okay for a very short trip to a shop
Drain the car and flush the system with a good quality oil.
Don't drive it. The water will have ended up under the oil, in the sump, and if run, the oil pump will probably circulate water through your engine instead of oil. I trust you can envisage what would happen.

Get it drained, and check that a litre of water comes out again. If you get the majority of the water out, you probably don't need to bother with flushing as the remainder will just eventually evaporate off.
