Does anyone here use Dreamweaver? Version 7 I think.

I have to make alterations to the homepage of my work's website but I am unable to get them online. I have spent a lot of time making the changes but cannot for the life of me find how to get them to the live version.

Nowhere does it say how to do this. I have wasted many hours so any help you could give would really be appreciated. Thank you.

Create a site, fill in the details of your server and upload them.
Or just use a normal FTP client (if you already have access to the server) and drag and drop the new files to the server.

Thanks for your answer Stevie.

Unfortunately I don't think I understand. Our site is already up and running, and I have no idea what server it is with. All we need to do is load the graphical changes to the homepage.

The changes have been made and saved on our hard drive, we just can't get them to the site. We keep constantly 'updating' but can do little else.

Thanks.
Hi cloudcity

1/ On the top of your computer page you should see the bar that says "WWW.whatever.com Go to there and type in ftp://ftp. <Name of the homepage> . com

2/ This should bring up a box asking for USERNAME and PASSWORD you should have them so type them in.
.
3/You should see a link that says HTDOCS Click on that file to open it.

4/ Now either click/drag or copy/paste your new web pages. you will be asked a question like "Folder already contains file. Overwrite?" Since you are replacing with updated files click "Yes to all"

5/ Check your website that the updates have gone through. You may have to refresh the page.
I was meaning in Dreamweaver, "Create a site" which will define which folder on your hard drive has all of your website files stored in it.
Site > Manage Sites > New

As mentioned, you should have an ftp address for your server and a root folder there also. That way, when you've made changes to a webpage in Dreamweaver you can click the upload button and your html file will be sent from your PC (where only you can see it) to whichever server the site is stored on so that the rest of the world sees your changes.

I've never liked Dreamweaver's ftp function - seems a bit slow and intrusive.
