Rejecting car insurance claim offer

Can i reject low offer of compensation from car insurance company for write-off? How far can i go with this?

I've done this twice on motorbikes that were written off (not my fault!). My advice is to reject the first offer as that's normally low and accept the second offer. Have info ready on the actual value by looking in Parker's guide.
