Yeah it was nice of Channel 4 to warn us!
I'm the worlds biggest fan and it was only my sister in law ringing me to tell me it was on that i knew about it!
I wont spoil it for you but i can assure that the new boss doesnt last and gets replaced by someone we all know and love (i think ive just spoilt it havent i?)
I'm glad its only on once a week. When it was every night recently it ruined my life for a couple of months.
Life wont be the same once its gone.
FX show the first lot of seasons on permanent rotation but I wish someone would show the rest (The ones showing the end of Bobby Simone and the arrival of Danny Sorenson).

Cheers GB. I only found it by complete accident 2 mins before it was due to start .How lucky is that?
I am THE fan, and gutted to realise I've missed the first episode - as you say, thanks for the warning Channel 4!

I'll catch up, but I am realy cross they haven't trailed it properly, if it had been Robin Flamin' Hood I would have known all about it! Bah! Fed up now .....
Woah andy - if i'd have seen your post when you posted it i could have directed you to more4 where this weeks episode is being repeated. As it is you've missed it again!
Sorry mate.
This show is treated woefully- it should be on every week at 9 on channel4 with reruns on every night from episode 1 onwards.
In fact it should have its own channel running 24/7!
Thanks Gary - I saw the repeat in my listings - an hour-and-a-half after it finished!!!!!! But appreciate the thought.

It's as if Channel 4 are ashamed of it and want to get it over and done with a.s.a.p. I just hope someon like 5 buy the rights and show it again from Episode One. Dennis Franz is the only TV actor who can make me cry like a girl with his fragility and flaws as Sipowicz, all conveyed with his eyes and the occasional little cough he does. Brilliant stuff.
Without getting into a Media Studies type essay i think the strength of NYPD Blue is the quality of the acting and direction from top to bottom.
Lets face it the plots are a bit ropey sometimes and the idea that most cases get cleared up in the course of a working day stretch credibility a bit. But even the most incidential characters have depth and as andy says the tension and the vulnerability that follows Sipowitz around with him is superb.
I just think every character is fantastically drawn and although the arrival of a new male cop usually means he will be a young, handsome loose cannon (usually an ex child star!) and a new female will be a beautiful, slender hard @rse (but with some skeleton in her closet) with high waisted trousers the casting is invariably spot on.
I dont think this show's influence will be fully appreciated until it has finally finished (which of course it has in the US). Every current US cop show owes NYPD Blue a huge debt.
