Scorpio b&m yes not hb

No I don't haven't for a while

I know might be early but I'm indecisive as to weather I like selco

That's a shame but not really a surprise.

Make your to stick at it for at least a year.  You will learn to settle in to the routine of work, it will look good on your CV and help you get a different job and you need the money.

Many people have no choice but to work in jobs they don't enjoy but they make the most of it.

Abbey, what don't you like about it?

Have you ever liked a job you've done in your career? Perhaps it's just work you don't like rather than the job? (Join the club!)

I like the money bit I've not been working weekends for over a year and that what they trying to do

Abbey,  You can't just have everything to suit you perfectly.  We would all like that but few of us get it.  Your social life has to fit around your job - not the the way around.  Work comes first.

Maybe Answerbank should weigh her in for all the traffic she generates.

Abbey, you've had previous jobs in retail, so must have been aware that you'd likely have some weekend work? Lots of people have all sorts of jobs that involve working on Saturdays and Sundays - and in your case, the hours then are probably still pretty reasonable. You say you've 'not been working weekends for over a year', but I'm sure you don't want to go back to the unrewarding (in all senses!) part-time jobs you had last year?

theres no point having every weekend off if you just have to stay at home because you have no money

bednobs: So true. I used to work every weekend and still have no money lol. I actually enjoyed my job though, so I didn't mind. I got to socialise with people and get paid to do it.

I chose to see the good side to not having to work some weekdays (watching people setting off for work at 08:00 on a weekday morning), and I suspect those very people probably thought the same about the weekends, for me. Swings and roundabouts!

true, i do a 9 day fortnight and appreciate having a weekday off now and then do catch up with life admin

Abbey, if your job is 5 days out of 7, it must include weekends. Your job comes before your social life.

My mum away and haven't told I got work Saturday in selco

Does it matter? Might she stop you from going?

If you have to work Saturdays, you have to do it. Your mum should be happy you've got a job at long last.

Abbey you really have to "grow up" and start living in the real world. While a job in Selco is not an emergency service it is still a Service Job and shift work, weekends, holidays and late shifts are a part of that job. I am sure you will not be asked to work every weekend and holiday but you will be expected to be a team player and work your fair share of "unsocial shifts". If you want to get on in life accept that you have to sometimes work when you would rather not. What is the reason for not telling your mum that you are required to work some weekends. You are an adult and must accept the responsibilities of a working adult

I haven't yet told her why I'm not at care home.

You said you'd told her that you'd left the care home, and she knew you were at the laundry!
