I cannot get the 2 unclued entries though have some crossers

I thought this was Altar

But my crossers are

I know the word dosen't begin at A

In 12 and 14, the big thematic entries, your E in 12 is wrong.

I think Insatiable went in normally as the thematic alteration is to a word, Ram, in the clue. That became Mar, an indication of an anagram...

I think Contraband was entered in reverse, just upwards.

12a and 14d remember have to be entered thematically

14d then rather than -v-u---p-t (the entry being a non word) would be t_p_ _ _ u _ v _ before you maniulate it.

Leena - the manipulation of all the down clues is different to the manipulation done in all the across  clues. The down clues follow one pattern and the across clues follow another.

Look carefully at the words that are contained in the clues that you have manipulated like ram and mar given above (down clue) and hoppers and shopper (across clue). Compare all the down clue words that you have  manipulated and you should see their method. Then compare all the across clue words manipulated and you should see a different method.

Now I am even more confused

I understand that by 14d word all down entries are to be reversed.

But then 11d has an H which crosses at 20a which dosen't have an h . Similar problems elsewhere too

11d is entered without reversing as "levon" is novel/anagram indicator backwards. If the clue itself has a manipulated word, then the answer is NOT maniulated when entering. Therefore 11d is entered as "brother in law" and the H is then not a factor!

Similarly with the across clues if the clue contains a manipulated word eg 26a tarts is manipulated to "start" then the answer is entered without manipulation- Skopje

Got them all now
