My computer is currently infected with a trojan called Vcodec, and I cannot get rid of it. The security system provided by my server can't detect it. Spybot-Search&destroy detects it but has been unsuccessful in deleting it. After searching online, there are many software packages that claim to get rid of this virus, but I don't know who to trust. I would like to get this done for free, but at this point I would pay for antivirus software that I know would work. Does anyone know how to get rid of Vcodec? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the best anti virus is a free ne called AVG - go to www.grisoft.com and download the free version. Beats most antiviruses, inclduding nortons. Run this prog and all should be cleared.
As spaced says, AVG is a very good program. Also, type vcodec into Google and click on some of the sites that brings up. I just looked and there are several that are records of chat board discussions on removing Vcodec, and they give good advice. If you're still having trouble, you could try posting directly to one of those boards, the people that run them are experts at what they do.
Following Snooks response, heres one site that seems to have a full step by step guide to removal

I must admit though it does look a bit daunting if youre not too sure what is involved, -Im sure some of the security specialists (Symantec maybe) will have a fix shortly as it does seem a recent problem (its Malware/adware as opposed to a virus) , but I would give this a go first if you feel confident,Alternatively, perhaps join one of the forums, download "hijack this" and leave them "talk" you through the fix step by step?
As your computer is currently infected you can use Norton, AVG , Avast that are widely antivirus software. You can download these free softwares at
