where can i download a free dvd player for windows xp? have just installed a dvd drive but don't have a player and windows media player says i need to buy a codec...what do i do?

When TV turns on it doesn't default to EXT2

just download updates from microsoft including latest Windows Media Player, that should do it, all codecs are with it I think

The free media player which is frequently recommended here (as well on BBC World Service's technology programme) is VLC:
