Hi there, everyone!

Have you all finished wrapping the boring socks, the ‘I-wouldn’t-be-seen-dead-wearing-that’ sweaters and the 'far-too-fattening' chocolates yet? If not, get a move on! It’ll soon be Crimbo, you know!

I started off with a totally pathetic score of just ONE out of seven on the main quiz this week:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-67581215

Some easy questions in the junior quiz helped me to a middling score of THREE out of five:

Largely so that I can report at least one decent score this week, I’ll throw in a BONUS QUIZ. It’s from BBC Bitesize (which is largely aimed at teenagers) and therefore shouldn’t be too difficult. Even so, I couldn’t quite manage full marks, scoring SIX out of seven. The theme is famous quotes. Go on, give it a go!

As if that’s not enough, here’s YET ANOTHER BONUS QUIZ for you to try! Again, it’s from BBC Bitesize and, once again, it’s about famous quotes. However, unless you really know your Shakespeare, it might prove to be somewhat trickier than the previous one! I scored SIX out of 11:

Main 5/7
Jnr: 4/5

Question Author

Good scores, anyway, Arky!

Well done!

(Are you going to try the two bonus quizzes?)

All the 4s - 4, 4 and 4

Question Author

Good, consistent scores, JJ109!

(There seems to be one missing though!)

I missed the shakespeare quiz - just done it and scored 8 - two guesses - and the other 6 were probably the only 6 quotes I know of his!

2/7, 4/5, 1/7. 3/11.

I didn't see then until after I had a go at top two, then read full post.

Quotes: 6/7
Shakespear: 7/11

Disclaimer: No guesses were made during the quizes, Honest 😏

6/7 - 3 i knew, 3 i guessed correctly (Q3 was my downfall)

4/5 - Q2 was my achilles heel

6/7 - i knew the answer to Q2 but clicked on the wrong 'un

6/11 - did better than i thought i would

Well done on your knowledge of Shakespeare, JJ109!

Hi, Caran!

A bit of a mixed bag there but at least you're a near-perfect kid this week 😊

Well done, Arky!

You clearly know your quotes!

A near-perfect grown-up and a near-perfect kid too, Ken!  Well done!

(Near-perfect on the general quotes too and pretty good with your Shakespeare as well!  Very impressive!)

Thanks Chris. Not too bad on the main and junior quizzes, but poor on the quotes:

5/7
4/5
3/7
5/11

Question Author

Well done with your scores on the regular quizzes, Twix, and at least you avoided any disasters with the quotes!

Not good. 3/7 in the adult and 4/5 in the junior. Didn't do the others.

The Norwegian Christmas tree is a thank you to Britain for rescuing the Norwegian Royal Family, various dignitaries and the Norwegian Crown Jewels, in June 1940. The cost was of that rescue was thousands of British and French lives. There should be a permanent memorial for the lives lost during Operation Alphabet, but a yearly christmas tree is all we get. Good eh?

A terrible 0 on the first quiz, but 4/5 on the junior one. 7 on the Shakespeare.

Question Author

A lot better than me, anyway, 10CS!

Thanks for making me feel better about my own lousy score on the first quiz, Clover 😊.

Well done on being a near-perfect kid though (and quite good with your Shakespeare too!).

[You seem to have missed the third quiz out].

Very late on parade - couldn't master wifi in hospital. Am now home after 2 1/2 days with a new hip and more medication than my local pharmacy!

3 for the first quiz, 4 for junior, 5 for first bitesize,  7 for the Shakespeare. It was the anaesthetic what did it!

Now I have to think about Christmas!

We've had some snow, my daughter's indoor kittens were not fans and she has the scratches to prove it! They have their Christmas presents early, over radiator beds - at least they look happier now!

Question Author

Oops!  I nearly missed Roo's post!

Well done on some very positive scores, Roo!

I hope that your recovery after your hip replacement will continue to go well and that you'll be dancing the can-can again very soon 😊

I wanna see some kitten pictures!
(I gave my darling Moonbeam a new cat bed, which rests at the foot of my bed, recently.  He instantly loved it, managing to jump into it before I'd even laid it flat on my bed!)

Awe bless moonbeam, even pets love a muppet.

Question Author

^^^ This will be his 10th winter, Arky.  For the previous nine he's hardly ever come inside, preferring to stay out in the cold and the rain most of the time.  I'm so glad that I've now finally convinced him that he's much better off in the warm and the dry, meaning that I can enjoy his company and cease worrying about him all of the time!

Awesome, he knows where his dinner it at at last, you may get a bit of recognition. Maybe 😉
