I've bought a few presents.  I'm nowhere near finished either.

A Xmas pudding and a personalized tankard.. rest will be last minute as per my usual!

for us for the last few years, christmas has been something to be endured rather than enjoyed as we had a big bereavement around christmas time in 2019.  However this year, we have realised that's not great for our 11YO so we're trying to inject a bit more christmas into christmas

Us too, bednobs.  We have a nice time because we make it nice but it will never be the same.

we havent been emotionally strong enough to make it nice so far ... my poor daughter has had to endure along with us, but we plan to change that this year before it's too late

Amazon busy delivering my Xmas goodies to catch the next lorry coming over. When we first came over there was no Christmas stuff in the shops until Dec 22 then there was a mad rush to buy wrapping paper etc. now the sales have started and the wrapping tables are set up in the shopping centres

I know what you mean, bednobs.  It is a struggle.   I often wander outside to weep a little private weep.  I wish I could cancel Christmas really, but I can't so I buy the crackers and all the other Christmas stuff and do it for everyone else knowing they're all as sad as I am really.  We're all doing our best I guess.

Nope, I don't know what to get anyone, and there's birthday's coming up too

Try to be upbeat for grandson at Christmas.

Hard to maintain enthusiasm for 25th December when you've been assailed by Christmas *** since October!

I don't understand the need to outdo each other

I 'friends' who go to extremes to have the perfect day but are as miserable as sin!

we just have the 2 of us - and enjoy our own company

I had 'friends' who managed to get themselves invited to someone else's for Christmas dinner.

They told everyone that because they were 'going away' for Christmas they weren't bothering with decorations and stuff.

They kept dropping hints for an invite from my partner and me.

We saw through the tight b*****s very quickly.

They were  soon 'ex' friends.

I was told they also kept any Christmas crackers on their place for "their grandchildren"

They didn't have any!

Been there Naomi and bednobs...but many, many years ago. It does get better xx

I only need to buy pressies...I've started that. And I need to contact the cat sitter.

Otherwise I've not much else to do...will be at my daughter's for 10-12 days, and spoiled food and drink wise.

Lol George...that's both hilarious and a bit sad.

I only buy presents for the grandkids and my partner. I don't want or need any material gifts as I've got enough 'stuff' already. Last year she bought me a course of singing lessons,  which was a perfect gift.

It is both hilarious and sad.

They also went on coach tour about 15 years ago and met another couple. During their various chats the others said ( as you do) "you must come and stay with us sometime" meaning 'once'

They have been for a stay every year since!

They bought an electric car but won't use it for anything other than very short journeys as they are worried they might run out of power. Any lifts to other places are courtesy of neighbours or any current friends they have (these change regularly!)

Catering pack of sprouts, what else do you need?
