Phone Scam?

"Hi Mam my phone broke can you text my new number xxxxxxxxxx on WhatsApp"

 This is not the first time for me to get a text message like that. What type of scam is it, anyone else get a similar message?

Common scam, usually asking for money to be transferred to pay bills, pay for a replacement phone etc

have you tried contacting your child on their normal number?

There is an excellent programme on BBC1 TV called "Scam interceptors"  very worth while watching.

The scam you have received is common.

Floko it is and it isn't - my MIL watches it all the time - but still gives out her details out willynilly

red.   One of your family should seriously talk to your MIL and tell her to "hang up" immediately and do not enter into any kind of conversation .

She should not answer any call that is not on her contact list

Floko - we all have many many times - we have left notes pinned near to her phone - even a policeman has told her and she still thinks she knows best!

We have now changed her phone number and that seem to have improved the situation for a while at least

My nephew received similar and the scammer then got hold of his contacts and sent messages to them

Yes I've had it BUT daughter has a secret word she will mention if it's her. No word then I ignore!
