Is it too early to do this? Ours are all looking very straggly.

November - nearly there!

Ok, thanks 🥀🔪

I'm just waiting for a fine day, without a threat of overnight frost.  I had loads of lovely blooms until the recent winds.

Dead head and you'll probably get more blooms.

Cut back enough to stop the wind loosening the roots

I'm always deadheading and have had a lot of flowers throughout the year. Right now though, there are no flowers or flower buds, the stems look long thin and straggly. I'm going to cut them back at the weekend, I can't bear how they look.

Cut mine right back last week. It will always come good again
