My dil who is 5 months pregnant has been told the baby is not getting enough oxygen due to a valve problem. Obviously she is upset as I am.
She has to return to hospital Wednesday for further checks.
Oh the worry.

Sorry to hear this. Don't want to be an alarmist. As a former NICU nurse there are many different types of congenital heart defects. The type of defect and the foetus's response in utero will determine the course of action to be taken before, during and after delivery. Hi this is the latest update.
Son & DIL meet with the echocardiologist and told them of 3 possible options.
1 They want to see if the baby's valve opens normally by constant monitoring over next month
2 Baby is born and if valve still faulty they open valve with a balloon
3 Baby is born and is given open heart surgery
Despite all these options my DIL is still pessimistic.
I have told her I have great faith in the doctors and so should she.
They will meet in October with a neonatal cardiologist to decide what next if the valve is still not operating fully.
I myself feel much better and I'm sure we will get a great outcome.
Once again thanks everyone for your support.
Will again report back on this situation in October.
Delighted to read the options, Sharon and well done you for a positive attitude. It is understandable that your dil may not have the same slant on the news, at the moment. Given a little time I hope she does.
