14 Cement, union. CE, church, Men, people and T(eaching)
20 Sheep - Sh, quiet, E(tude) and EP< elctronic piano. Remember the wording in the preamble

23 A political prisoner - the word should be known to you! Take one letter from the last two words in the clue(remembering the extra letter info).

£ D Your A is wrong
25 Simply an anagram - I thought you'd have spotted it! It means 'affectedly theatrical'.
31 Your A is wrong
5 D Your H is wrong.
Sorry, the 15.37 comment was meant to be 3D...
In 20 A, your R is wrong (for the thematic word).
Matakari, hope those helped and that you have fixed the bits where you went astray. I think you'll have far fewer problems with this month's Genius - it was fun, but definitely easier!
31a TO + '(com)E' + TO + E (for Spain).
3d for the last 3 letters of the answer it's ER[g]S ('pieces of work') with the 'g' extra.
5d The entertainer performs in a circus - take away the first letter 'c' (for Charlie) and replace with K(are)N - def 'famous'/notable.
...for that last one the 2nd letter of the circus entertainer is extra ['l'].
