no, but like humans cats have dirty mouths and like some humans, dirty claws. A cat that will not normally attack may do so in defence of its kittens and the wound will be dirty, leading to infection.
Yep...I can back up Woofgang on this one. I have been on the receiving end of an angry mother cats bite & despite cleaning & dressing it, the wound still swelled up like a balloon & went every shade of green you could imagine..MMmm lovely!
I thought cats did have something poisonous in their saliva cos there was a woman that was bitten by her own cat and she died but it's not venom like snakes have or anything, it's actually more likely that it's dirty like woofgang said.
I concur with Woolfie, cats have bacteria on their claws (they bury their poo afterall) which gets into scratches. If you get scratched by a cat you will feel like you have a mild cold too.
