I'm so tired of the innane chatter of the commentators
I wonder if any of them ever got out themselves, their
advice to the batsmen( I will never use the term batters.
I will take advice and have often done so , turned the sound off.
Oh for the days of Benaud and Arlott.

Agreed. Benaud never used a word if it was unnecessary. Arlott was a highly literate man. I think there is a directive from the producers to the commentators to keep talking. Only two on Sky at a time. Three on broadcasts by Australian tv.
I'm okay with batters... I weren't keen at first but am use to it.... its consistent with bowler (not bowlsman) and fielder (not fieldsman).
Batter reflects the fact theres a womens game there trying to big-up... the term batswoman would sound odd
Will they be called The Wombats?
Prefer the radio commentators, Agnew & Tuffnel are much better, though not a patch on the olidies like Johnson & Blowfeld.
I wonder what Boycott thinks and what Fred Truman would of thought of Englands Bazball approach to cricket... its a very different game to when I started watching test cricket.. Edrich, Mike Brearley, Cowdrey, Boycott, Illingworth
It’s a different game from 40-50 years ago. Sport evolves. Better/worse are value judgments.
