I was watching a film called bill and ted, they travelled back in time and picked up a person called billy the kid, was he a real person or just made up for the film

He was a real person almusic. Willain H. Boney! The link provided by kempie should give you some good info. I know there was only one known photo of him standing up to a few years ago when somebody found another picture of him.

yes... the original photo had been printed backwards, so people thought he was left handed (there was a Paul Newman movie called Left Handed Gun); but apparently he wasn't. He seems to have been quite a nasty piece of work, but he'd been badly treated

watching the films young guns 1& 2 isn't such a bad thing, most if not all names in the film are real characters, the only problem i have with it ,is billys meeting with pat garret in young guns, they were supposed to be friends , but acted like strangers which spoiled it somewhat, but in all two great films...
