Good morning, another record for me with this week’s Doc Spectator
completed in record time yesterday! It seems that the Spectator is becoming
more and more Matakari- friendly now. Just one slight doubt quickly dispelled
for 37a (37 Dean regularly hands round old register (5) ). I was looking for an
adjective –“old register” – then realised that it had to be the archaic form of
enroll, “to register”…
A little pause now, with an evening promenade in the shade, and then onwards
to the weekend puzzles! Cheers!

I think enrol is the British spelling, and enroll is American.
(d)E (a)N + R and L (hands) around O (old)
Matakari, glad you got on so well with Doc's latest offering. I think you've got things the wrong way round re 'enrol' - Chambers refers to 'enroll' as the archaic (or US) version. 'Enrol' is the usual, normal one.

I hope you enjoy the weekend puzzles. There must surely be a Matakari-friendly EV soon?

Thanks, NACW, I just got the Eye Crossword which I'll be attacking
as soon as I'm back from my walk. And, yes, I'm hoping to see a Matakari-friendly EV soon!
