Slow Cooker Overheating?

Is this possible?
I have a small Crockpot slow cooker that I use fairly regularly. Earlier, about 90 minutes into the cook time I went to stir the pot, and the outer surface seemed to be *much* hotter than normal. Untouchable. I last used it on Friday and didn't notice anything different.
Is it dying on me?

How old is the Crockpot? It is possible the thermostat has failed so it is not cycling properly. Modern Crockpots cook at the same temperature on all settings but cycle between on and off differently.
I assume if the thermostat failed it would be on full power all the time.
I don't know how cost effective it would be to repair. If you have a food thermometer you could put something cheap in, say porridge made with water, and see what temperature it reaches.
Did you over do the curry powder?

Barry, it's only a few years old...maybe 4 at most.

Nicebloke...the hotter the better!
Is the food burning, that's the important thing.
Question Author
Not quite...I was making a curry with cook from frozen lamb mince which always releases a fair amount of liquid. When I checked it that first time, it was borderline dry.
That's not good. Assuming it is a Crockpot there is a freephone number you can contact for support in the UK https://crockpot.co.uk/contact-us/

Worth a call.

Oh, thanks for that Barry. Yes, it's a reliable brand...but I see my model has some issues with *not* heating properly.
I checked the purchase date...March 2019.
Have you got anywhere with this, pasta?
