Sis Had A Fall, One For Sqad?

My sister slipped and fell on the outside of her knee today. she was ok, and walked around the shops this morning. However, now she says the side of the kneecap is a little swollen, and is very stiff and hurts to bend it and walk on it. No pain when she just sits with her leg up. How long is this likely to last? Thanks all.

How long ids a piece of string?
The swelling would indicate some internal damage but not serious.

My suggestion would be for her to rest it as much as possible, elevated, but short movements would do no harm.

If she can, then take Ibuprofen or Paracetamol every four to six hours.

I myself would put a bag of frozen peas around it for a couple of days.
Depending on upon no serious damage, then she should be up and about in 4-5 days and back to normal in 10days.
