I have a hyperactive boy who will be 3 next month and i'm 6 mths pregnant and due in January.
I have a travel system already for the baby as this is the one i used for my son. I have been considering buying a tandem buggy and wondered if at 3 years old is my son too old for this? Because i have to take him out in a buggy as he runs off and does'nt hold your hand and throws tantrums and swears!

I'd be grateful for helpful suggestions.

My daughter still needed to go in a buggy at times when she was three, mainly because walking for too long would end up in me carrying her, personally I'd recommend a buggy for him. Good Luck
See if you can try it out before you buy.
The one we had was so heavy with a baby and toddler in I didn't use it on my own.
It was some time ago and second hand, maybe things have improved
Rather than use the buggy I used my big pram with a seat at the end.
Snag with that, it was unstable on uneven ground with all the weight near the handle. I had to be carefull going up and down kerbs specially if they were not straight
Perhaps reins for your boy could be an option? If he's energetic it might suit him better to walk rather than ride iin the buggy and at least you can stop him running off??
I agree with the reins or wrist strap option, an opportnity to use up some of that excess energy.. Alternatively a buggy board might work for you. My concern with getting a double buggy with a 3 year old is that the difference in weight can make it difficult to control the pushchair easily and also, they are often narrower than single pushchairs and so a 3 year old may not have a lot of room in it (a tandem one may be better than a side by side in this aspect). Perhaps worth sitting him in one to see if it would be a worthwhile option?

Thanks for all your answers. I thought of a tandem one as i can get out of doorways and on and off buses easier. I hate those long ones like the Graco one but i saw a Cosatto one that is black and looks more compact.
I would use the reins but my son tends to get tired walking after a while and also often naps in the buggy with his milk.

Looks like i will consider the tandem then if it does'nt seem odd that i have a 3 year old in it.
