70S Group….Name Please

There was a group in the 70s (or thereabouts) very like mud, showaddywaddy etc that was male but had a stunning black female singer. Can’t remember the name of the group. I do think that the lead singer was on keyboards and one of the male’s looked like he was mad as a box of frogs . Any ideas guys? Thank you

What a coincidence. Russel and Ron Mael were just interviewed by a chap called Sillitoe on BBC news just now. Although I have all their 45 vinyls I would have never given them a thought if it wasn’t for this thread
