Before my wife had her hysterectomy she had very heavy and painful periods.

During one of the many tests she had to determine the cause, the specialist noticed the deep, ulcer type sores on her thighs and asked her if she had them on her breasts, too. She confirmed that she did but hadn't sought advice or treatment for them. The specialist wrote to her GP and he prescribed tablets which cleared up the problem.

He told her what it was and that it was caused by hormones. We can't remember what it was called but she now needs to know. Can anyone help? It was definitely a Latin name.

That's what we shall do, thanks, Fox
Gosh Barry, Mrs B has certainly been through the mill, I’m so sorry. Has she seen any relief since her latest appointments? I do think of her from time to time and wonder how she’s going on x

Thank you, Vagus, you're very kind. It's fair to say she does get down from time to time, especially if she hasn't slept well but on the whole she's coping. Still finds lots to laugh about (often me!) and took great joy in watching a red kite flying over our house yesterday.

She is on two different tablets to help with the urgency to urinate and has now started taking amitryptiline for the pain, which does help. She has also been doing special exercises which at least don't aggravate the condition.
Having been through something similar (but fortunately for me, quite different and easily treated) then I fully appreciate how debilitating and confidence sapping these issues can be.
We have red kites soaring overhead where we currently are Barry, they are spectacular and I’m glad Mrs B finds joy where she can (even if it is laughing at you!) x
