Wouldn't have thought so. As I understand it, the driver card has a 21 day capacity. If you were driving on the continent, where the complete trip is obviously longer than 1 day, you would leave the card in all the time. With discs it is usual practice in the UK to take them out when you have finished your duty day, but when I was driving continental the various police forces used to get right shirty if I could not produce a tacho for the complete 24 hours of the day to prove you had had your rest (even though there is no legal requirement to leave one in when off duty). I can't imagine they would relax this 'rule' (even though it doesn't exist) with the new driver cards.
