Good evening, an attempt at the Listener 4762 and seeking confirmation for the following
before continuing. Thanks in advance!

( Some answers, which are clued by wordplay only, are thematic and must be fully capitalised for entry in the grid. All other answers must be entered using lower-case letters (except in cells that intersect with the thematic entries). The Chambers Dictionary (2016) is the primary reference. )

30a Long robe’s high sleeve, each shortened (5) STOLA
33a Enlarge half a gadget with a nut (5) WIDEN

There's another site that runs a weekly Listener thread, but AB doesn't like us plugging other sites (for obvious reasons). I've copied a few replies from that thread below, and removed their user names, to give you some idea of how they go about it (the first Q is very like your last question, Matakari - but without revealing anything at all). I'm hoping the people on that thread won't mind the intrusion -

Q
Could I get a bit of help on this? I can’t get the thematic answers to fit in the grid because they clash with the non-thematic ones. In those squares where thematic and non thematic answers intersect, if the letters are different, do you need to enter both? Or do you need to select one using some kind of rule? Thanks

A
There are no clashes. I would read the preamble again, literally.

Q
Can't seem to understand 9dn--I'm only missing the unchecked cell and I can't find a way to complete the word that matches the part of speech and tense in a way that makes sense to me.

A
the "house" refers to bingo.

I'm sorry to go on so much, Matakari. Hope you enjoy the puzzle and keep doing them.

I'm utterly astonished that someone would reveal so many answers so early. Luckily I'd finished and was just looking for clarification on some wordplay.
Well, on the plus side, there's a fair chance you'll have found your clarification here, Semwah (less chance in future, I hope).

Many thanks, Roslyn251254, so if I understand the preamble well, then
I must enter “ugli” in 24d and “BURKINAFgSO” in 25a and “GEOlGIa”
in 29a, and for 17d, not NEW ZEALAND, but NELZAN??O? (I do not
yet have 36a and 43a which I’ve now come back to.)
Matakari, I don't think you have fully understood what is to be done. Your 24 is correct, all the others aren't.
You can see that none of the thematic answers to clues will go in the grid without creating non-words, and if all entries in the final grid are to be real words, what would be the relevance of those thematic answers (what else might 'fully capitalised' mean, Matakari)?
Listener preambles are more cryptic than Spectator ones, you've just got to think about them a bit more.

Yes, ProfessorMaisie and others, I needed to reflect a bit more on it all! I have it now and I deserve capital punishment for not seeing what was required earlier! Thanks for encouraging me to work this out on some of my own speed, hihihihi! On to the rest of the clues which should be easier now! A great lesson here!
Matakari, glad you have appreciated all the 'encouragement'. Good luck with the rest of the clues.
