Just taken my neighbour to Aldi, we each bought two packs of paracetamol. Assistant refused to serve me because we were together even though it would have been two separate transactions. "It is illegal to buy that many, you are breaking the law".

The law clearly states the maximum is per transaction. Grrrrrr.

Rant over, as you were

With my wife taking 8 paracetamol and 8 Ibuprofen every day it's a flipping nuisance trying to keep the stocks up. Our pharmacy does let us buy the maximum
do you have anyone that goes to spain? My parents always bring me back loads when they go because i prefer the 1g tablets, which you cant buy OTC here
Question Author
I don't, sadly.
Barry, it’s one of the reasons I have 200 paracetamol on my repeat prescription list, my doctor didn’t quibble. Perhaps worth your wife asking her GP.
Suicide by paracetamol is apparently very slow and very painful. It causes kidney failure, which induces a long drawn out demise.

Vagus, she's been offered them on prescription but refuses as it costs the NHS a lot more to dispense them than it costs her to buy them OTC
A laudable, but inconvenient response to a situation not of her causing.
I’d more than happily buy mine over the counter very cheaply but as you say, it’s very, very inconvenient when you take such a lot of them.
Oh well, I guess you’ll just have to put up with it until something changes.
Why is it anyone's business than your own if you wish to commit suicide by taking paracetamol or anything else? You could buy six bottles of antifreeze and swallow it.

You're right, I could have bought from that store a trolley full of whisky, a rope, a hosepipe, kitchen knives and even raw prawns.
Sounds like the worst game of Cluedo ever!
