From 'National Magazine' - a direct payment. Not a clue what it could be for. Any ideas?
I do enter lots of magazine competitions, but not sure how I would get a direct payment without them first asking for bank details
If anyone has any thoughts I would be grateful. It is puzzling me at moment!

* Bank account (not blank account)
They must have your bank details somehow. Perhaps they have lots of different titles that they are known as.
the National Magazine Company is Hearst; their magazines are here; do you recognise any of them?

I do recognise quite a few of those that I enter comps with thank you jno. But can't imagine anyone saves bank account information of any past winners etc so still baffled as to how it has suddenly appeared without at least an email. All I can think is it possibly not mine and they made a mistake/put in wrong account. Is that likely?
do you subscribe via a direct debit maybe? (Though it does still sound odd, I agree.)
Question Author
No subscriptions either
Sorry but don't know what is odd about it. The Spectator keeps records of those that have given their bank details for payments. Why would others not do the same?
You must have won a competition and they have your bank details from previous dealings
Usually, companies send a text, e-mail or letter informing people of a win Any money wins I have received have been sent by cheque. Can you not contact the magazine company?
It might be worth checking your email spam folder, to see if a notification of a prize win can be found in there.
If none of the foregoing suggestions solves the puzzle ; then the only thing to do is contact the company

They may have made a
mistake and if should be £300 :-)

Maybe a letter or email will appear after the bank holiday weekend. I am happy to accept it as a win, as have been lucky with many competitions and magazines over the years so I suppose it is possible they could already have details.
Do you hold any premium bonds, could you have won one although you should have been informed if you had with the winning bond number.
Just a thought.
Sorry, wouldn't be that as it would have to be £25 or £50. Misread your post, thought it was £50 you had won. Must go to Specsavers.
