A school would normally need a greater reason than that in order to be able to permanently exclude a pupil. If a child is absent without a good reason, the normal action would be to issue a penalty notice.

Unlikely to lose the place but may well be fined. Schools don't like pupils missing term time.
Unless it's caused by strike action, apparently.
High school is not exclusively American, piggynose, there are quite a few in my locality.
