I stayed in a reasonably big named hotel on Thursday night there was no temperature control that was working it was very clearly broken. More concerning the radiator had been very clearly smoke damaged thick black stains across the front of the radiator and when I put it on there was a foul and acrid smell. I turned it off Is this dangerous I took pictures and emailed a complaint to the hotel. I live in Perth and only too aware of fire in hotels.

Did you raise your concerns at the time to the reception?

No I was too tired I just went straight to sleep
Can you say you were concerned though if that is the case?
I think I would have been requesting a change of room!
Did you mention it when you checked out?
Are gordonscotland and gordiescotland different people?

I ask because of the similarity in style.

No same people. I got a new phone and lost the password ie forgot it so I set up a new account I'm 51 I'm getting old!!
Are you sure it's not just where it had been badly bled? My radiators have been known to spray out smoky black mess when the being bled and the valves weren't closed quickly enough. Certainly leaves what might look like smoke stains.
If it were an electric radiator that would be a different matter. So what was it, a Best Western? ;-)

Sorry it was a campanile
impossible to say from here if it was dangerous, but next time you can quite reasonably ask to be moved to a room with a working (and clean) radiator and no smells.
