Those pictured look like that particular type who wouldn't know a days work if it bit them.

Half hour chat at the start of the day, full lunch break and a 'wind-down' period at the end.
Blimey I would have loved that when I was working full time - working four days a week and getting paid for five! They've got it made these days haven't they??
So a 20% payrise then?

Either companies will have to employ more to do the work or the current bunch were not exactly pushing the boat out.

Lets see if these companies are still in business in 5 years time.
I expect similar was said when we went from 6 says a week, to 5. But one needs to keep an eye on it to ensure economic success isn't lost.
DAYS !!!
They need to produce the same output in a shorter period so they are either more efficient or are working at a faster pace.
i guess the question would be if they can work more efficiently or faster; why werent they?
there are clearly lots of industries this wouldnt work for. My employers do a 9DF working pattern, but longer days so it's still the same hours
A member of my family now works a 4-day week BUT works 10 hours each day instead of 5 X 8hrs.
Still prefers the 4 day week though.

Indeed. So the managers of these firms now need to announce that the experiment has been a roaring success. They should congratulate their staff, emphasising that they have obviously cracked on and demonstrated that they can get five days' work done in four. What will follow, they should say, is an increase in workload to fill the fifth day as they were obviously slacking prior to the experiment.
Over the last 15 years of my working life I faced having to achieve the same goals with fewer and fewer resources . I think I did once have a strong “work ethic” but that experience ground me down. I was encouraged to work on past retirement age which I did but eventually it became drudgery with no positive aspects. I chucked it and retired, best thing I ever did

yep that was what I thought judge, clearly been slacking!
Giving people a Wednesday off seems a bit strange. There will inevitably be a lag on Thursday as they catch up. I wouldn't go for that. Monday or Friday, yes. I appreciate it probably needs to be staggered.
