Village shop had the fantastic sausages in again so it was sausage, chips and beans tonight.
I've only ever liked Heinz or Branston beans. After reviews Dave decided to give the Lidl beans a try.
To my surprise they were excellent.

Have you ever been nicely surprised by a food or drink....or not nicely surprised?

And what landed on your table tonight?

Mr F was always a bit of a brand snob, therefore it always had to be Heinz. Youngest lad got me to try the cheaper ones and to be honest I do prefer them. I just wish they did small tins for one as I hate waste. Having said that, Asda yellow label ones are around 19p, so even if I only eat a portion of the tin and bin the rest - it's still waaayyyyy cheaper than buying a small tin of Heinz at just under £1.

I'm surprised that I was taken with the Lidl beans, Ferlew. A large tin is a bit too much for us both but the birds or animal don't mind the leftovers.
We do however have very windy gulls overhead. ;-)
ROFL Gness, can just imagine them....flap flap, squawk, paaaarp!
I'm not a fan of beans...but Lidl JD Gross 85% chocolate is lush
*she says as she devours a few squares*
Question Author
Exactly, Ferlew....and they are big birds who swoop low. :-(

It is, Pasta. I was slow to go to the Aldi/Lidl chocolate and biscuits but glad I did now.
All this talk of beans has made me crave some! Luckily I have some in, so I'm having beans on toast with an egg on top for my tea tonight.
The seagulls around here divebomb during nesting season...shouting as they throw themselves at my head. Must think my grey hair is a foe ;0

Know how you feel, Fitdarren. Years ago we had to live in a hotel for a few weeks. Food was fantastic but it wasn't long before I craved a plate of beans on toast.

Dave and I disagreed last night. He couldn't eat cold beans. I love cold beans....and from the tin saves washing up. ;-)

We went on a Falconry day, Pasta. Unfortunately one of the birds had a thing about redheads. Didn't have a hat with me so had to hide behind Dave. :-(
I couldn't eat them cold Gness, dear me no!
Question Author
I find them tastier and they feel nicer.
Ever thought of putting unused beans in a small plastic pot in the fridge.
Question Author
We'd have nothing for the gulls if we did that, Margo. ;-)
Lidl and Aldi Q10 face creams and serums are excellent too. For some reason we have 3 Lidl's within a small area but no Aldi I don't know whether they have some sort of agreement
Question Author
They are, Margo. Also Aldi Miracle Cream. Got to the age where I need miracles.
Lidl and Aldi are just steps apart here. Ok...maybe 300...so minutes apart.
I might eat beans if they had cheese on top...just a few.
