cardboard, your jokes are hilarious too - thanks for the laughs!
Thanks natalie. Thats what I get for registering with a false email account
Always a pleasure smudge
Thank you smudge.  Mostly my brother's jokes actually, but I'm happy to take the credit...

Im with you on this Smudge!

See Cardboard's thread for an example of an unnecessarily ethnic joke. It's Noddy's one about Carlos, number 215.  Why "Carlos"?  Why the broken English?  It's funny anyway, why not tell it straight?

By the way, thank you AB Ed for not "banning" that thread -- we're all enjoying it hugely.  Though it could perhaps do with a (very) small amount of pruning.

Hi all, this & the CHAV'S thread have got to be the funniest on AB yet! I haven't laughed so much in ages!

 Thanks for that!

Agree with you smudge I loved the chavs thread its totally bang on- and give me a giggle.

but answering the question I always try to look at the funny side of things (apart from the really sick abusive ones) I dont mind racist jokes and im definitely not racist.

but whatever happens in the world theres always gonna be a joke made out of it and some people deal with humour in different ways.

If we never saw the funny side of things the world would be a very depressing place.

Enjoyed reading this through.  For what it is worth, I don't think there is a taboo subject, but it depends on the context and the teller.  Chris Rock tells stories that would get other people arrested for inciting racial hatred.

Humour is a way of dealing with reality, which is why most people find observational humour funnier than straightforward gags.

It has been said that most British men would prefer to be told they are bad lovers rather than having no sense of humour.  Certainly, some other nationalities have a different view on the importance of humour.

natalie_1982, if you think the Irish are stupid, why don't you say that the next time you meet one?
Why don't you learn to read then come back and quote me.

Oh didn't I just know that someone would pick me up on my joke New Forester! (not my joke actually & I did think about changing it but just thought that it emphasised the misunderstanding the way it was).

Don't the funniest things in real life often occur when two people of different nationalities have misunderstandings?  Certainly happened to me with the wonderful registrar  who looked after me in hospital!

Ask Billy Connolly!
locust/let's be honest with ourselves we all wish to know .if there is a creator or not but when you look around and see all the wonderful things which goes on in creation. and the Marvellous many of stars in the sky how they rotate how they stay in place .you cannot say nobody created those things it's like walking through woods .And then come and across a house which has been built. and you look up and say there's a house for me . you don't enquire, who it belongs to, or where it come from ,from the beginning so therefore someone had to create it or make it or build it ,only logic ,tells you , that , someone had to build it , there is a supreme being in the sky or in the heavens directing and keeping things in Motion
