I attended hospital this week for my re-scheduled annual mammogram. I told the radiographer how grateful I was to get an appointment the day after I had phoned them.

She replied "We will always try to squeeze you in." Didn't she just!

Anything made you smile this week?

Choux Only a woman who has had a mammogram would understand that humour!

Yes, in any other circumstances being told I had a partially collapsed lung would have been pretty worrying.... My reaction phew. That's brilliant! Just a matter of perspective .
My 80+ year old neighbour bringing our bin in this morning. I didn't sleep well and ended up not waking up till around 09:00. It's really windy and had my bin still been out it would have ended up halfway up the road.

I thanked him and offered to collect him some shopping from Sainsbury's later.

That made me smile, that he'd do that for me. I'd like to say, had I been awake after the bins had been emptied, I would have brought both our bins in.

rowan, good news is just that, knowing things could be worse is something to be grateful for.

Diz, little acts of kindness are lovely, just small gestures of help are up-lifting. I went outside to collect the empty dustbin this morning to find that my lovely postie had brought it up the drive for me, he often does. Lovely man.
Yeah choux, it really put a smile on my face.

Rowan, I'm glad that you got the diagnosis that you wanted (not wanted, you know what I mean), much better than what you were worried it might be. I hope you are feeling better soon. :)
Hope so, I am at least optimistic with this problem,

I am a great believer in random acts of kindness.... Having been on the end of a lovely one as a young woman. In a supermarket, getting a few odds and ends, feeling down, marriage not the best ( didn't know why back then) when an older gentleman walked up to me with some roses... He said I was going to put them on my wife's grave, but I think you need them more.... " I tried to refuse but he insisted... After a bit of tooing and fro ing we split the bunch. I don't think he could have known now desperate I was for someone to see through the I am fine facade. His wife must have been a special person and I hope the time they had together was happy.

Oh yes, they say it's easier if you are larger up top... If that's easy I would have to be flat chested
Barry, I once saw a 92 year old neighbour across the road- and was going to go and speak to him. He saw me, stopped the traffic, crossed over, took my arm and helped me across the road... both of us giggling lol.
Poor old lady in Tesco today had trouble with her bank card, when trying to pay for her shopping. So she managed to find £30 in cash bot was £3.01p short. So my daughter who was next in line, gave her what she owed The dear old lady thanked her very much. She looked so embarrassed, and said she wouldn't be showing her face in said store ever again..

jazzyjen, it only needs a tyre inflator, I carry one in the car that works off the lighter ;)

rowan - what a perfect gent!

Pixie - gigglers too, how super :)

Patsy, good for your daughter but what a shame the lady felt so embarrassed. I think I would probably feel the same. But at least your daughter's kindness saved her from having to put some of her shopping back. You must be proud of her x
Yes, choux, I'm very proud of her. She's extremely kind hearted. We said to lady, we've all had it happen to us, don't worry..:-)

Not necessarily.

I have three daughters and an adult granddaughter, and in my working days, I shared an office with about thirty ladies, as the only man.

Believe me, when ladies are comfortable with a man in their midst on a daily basis, and they take him on their office nights out, there is very little that man does not learn eventually - including any and all hospital procedures!!

andy, hoped they treated you to a glass of squash ;) x

That was my first thought, maybe after Ouch! If men had to have mammograms I can't help thinking it would be better designed. My late OH asked me what they did so I suggested he placed his 'appendage' in the toasted sandwich maker while I spun it round. He declined.
zebo, I can't think why he declined, lol. Isn't that an experience us men want to try, at least once? No, just me then...
Question Author
zebo, it is like twister-for-one, plus a vice-like grip and no humour, but I would not miss the annual event and am grateful for it :)

That didn't make me smile but it did make my eyes water! As a lady of generous proportions a mammogram is not a pleasant thing!
