Does anyone know how much juice there is in the average carrot? I love carrot juice but it's so expensive for such an inexpensive vegetable that I'm contemplating buying a juicer. Also, can anyone recommend a good juicer and what I might do with the carrot pulp besides making carrot cake or putting on my non-existent compost heap?

You'll get approximately 70ml of juice from a carrot but of course it depends on the size of the carrot. I'd highly recommend that you buy a juicer. I wouldn't be without my daily juice since i first bought a juicer 3 years ago. Breville definitely do the best juicers. They are expensive but worth it if you're serious about juicing. And of course you'll be able to juice much more than just carrots! Carrot, apple and beetroot is a fantastic cleansing juice and delisious if you keep it about 50% apple. As for the pulp, I've done some research and I'm afraid theres not much you can do with the pulp. soup is a option. many people think that its a waste, the pulp. However, much of this waste is what your body will end up getting rid of anyway. Because the juicer extracts al the waste for you your body has less work to do in breaking down the carrot and therefore you free up energy and also get a direct hit of nutrients. Obviously you still need some fibre to flush your system out.
A friend of mine who 'juices' every day uses the pulp in soups and stews - I guess you could also re-cycle it via a friendly rabbit or use it (mixed with oatmeal or yogurt) as a face-mask - useful for orangey tan effect.
Well tellmenow here s food for thought carrots are sprayed up to 9 times they're so tasty
According to Which the top two juicers are the Breville JE2 Deluxe or the Magimix Duo. Both tested out at 70% with the Breville being better on all round juicing but harder to clean and very bulky. I have the latter and am v happy with it!
