I have been on 150 Mg per day for a long time re underactive thyroid. I had blood tests just to check levels etc about 10 days ago. Today I’ve had a message saying I’m now taking too much and to reduce it to 125mg per day. Would this have anything to do with the fact that since starting taking it Ive lost 4 stone? I cannot get to speak to my doctor to ask why he’s lowered the dose until next week. (Just a message to say he has prescribed 25mg tabs to replace the 50mg ones and to collect the prescription).

You could ask the pharmacy when you pick up your medication - or ring your GP and leave a message with the receptionist.
Nothing to do with your weight, the blood tests have shown that your T.S.H is lower than your last test, so that you must reduce the Levothyroxine.
Sensible.
https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/levothyroxine/

"One of the symptoms of an underactive thyroid gland is weight gain. So, once you start taking levothyroxine, you may lose weight as your body's hormones rebalance. ***Losing weight can also be a sign that your dose of levothyroxine is too high.***

Once your thyroid hormone levels have returned to normal, your tendency to gain or lose weight is the same as for people who do not have thyroid problems." [emphasis added]
Most people on Levothyroxine have their dose tweaked from time to time, Smow.

I hope you're well x

The doctor is ringing me nxt tues for a telephone appointment, I was just curious now.
I’m guessing that my T.S.H level being lower is a good thing.

No big deal in your case......and the dose of thyroxine is in micrograms, NOT milligrams-;)

Oops, trust me to get it wrong!
Just picked up the new lower dose - I did speak to pharmacist and he said basically what you’ve all said, and added that it’s just as bad to take too much levothyroxine as it is to take too little.
