We still do chestnuts on the open fire at Christmas.
Let it cool down, then layer with hardish butter, and add Marmite. Lovely Jubbly.
my daughter does not like toast - what a weirdo.
in answer to your question, it is cheap, hot, you can cook it in seconds using a variety of cooking sources (toaster, grill, fire) although probably not a ninja :)

Now that’s What I Call Christmas :0)
I don't understand letting toast cool down. It's got to be hot enough to singe my fingers as I try to spread the ice cold butter.

Spreadable butter has added oil to make it spreadable.

You are right Bobbisox, there is something so gratifying in that first cup of tea and a slice of toast that was given to me and countless other new mothers straight after giving birth.
Also just after having a colonoscopy, It was just heaven.
As is fitting for myself, it is Gentleman's Relish one spreads on toast. What's not to be gratified with ? Great start to the day.
