Just watching Abba videos on Youtube and they made me think of a lip gloss we used to use in the late 1970's. We were at school so it would have been a cheap brand. It was a glass tube with a rollerball. I`m not sure it was the Max Factor one. Any ideas?

Thank you Tigger. I think it must have been Max Factor Lip Potion. Happy memories.

There was a time when a question like this would have sparked a really interesting thread about all of the wonderful make up and cosmetics we used in the 1970s. Says something about AB nowadays (thanks Tigger for your input). Nowadays AB is about certain people who think the site is 'their site' and they just rant about politics and anything else that angers them.
flairs and denim...
Ooh, I remember these. Weren’t they flavoured?
In the US it would have been Maybelline. Was that sold here then?

I remember Maybelline. Don't think it was sold in Woolworths in the 70s. I remember Miners makeup. I thought it was the bees knees.
Not a lipgloss, but who remembers using Tangee lipstick?
It was pale orange in the tube, almost clear when you applied it, then it darkened into shades of pink, or on some people even red.
Pretty sure I got that in Woolworths too.

Gosh,I`d forgotten about Evette
Yes, Woolworths for Maybelline etc.. We couldn't afford No.7 or Max Factor. I wish I could still buy it.

I remember that Rimmel was the cheapest of the cheap. It's quite trendy now, thanks to Kate Moss.
The Maybelline range is still sold in those parts of the world where Woolworth's is still trading. (e.g. in Australia and South Africa).

Those who're old enough to remember Flower Power might also remember the Baby Doll range of cosmetics:
