The defence secretary, Ben Wallace, has said that a Russian fighter jet recently “released a missile” in the vicinity of a British aircraft over the Black Sea.

Time for another Ukraine thread I think

Kherson is about to be liberated; the city north of the Dnipro at least.
May be some while tho before Ukrainian forces enter the city
Anyway, back to the pantomime ;-)
yes, that item just popped up on the Guardian's rolling news coverage, which is 99% political at the moment, things being what they are. But it does hint at how domestic political turmoil encourages the country's enemies to stir up mischief.

Great timing by the Ruskies. The UK in chaos. Let's play silly luggers.
The Tory Party Chairman has just gone in to Number 10.

//Liz Truss asked to see him ... not the other way around.//

Probably wants to know the weight of feeling against her.
But if she asked, why the back and not the front? They’d know the paps would snap him even if he parachuted down the chimney!

/Fifteenth Tory MP calls for Liz Truss to resign
Jill Mortimer has become the 15th Tory MP to call for Liz Truss to go.
She says she was not called in PMQs yesterday, and so submitted a letter of no confidence to Sir Graham Brady.
Ms Mortimer posted a picture of her letter - dated yesterday - on her Facebook.
She said: "Dear Sir Graham, it is with deep regret I write to inform you that I have no confidence in the competence of the current prime minister Liz Truss.
"I would therefore like to add my support to the call for a vote of no confidence.
"Yours faithfully, Jill Mortimer."/
No 10 says Liz Truss will stay as PM beyond 31 October

she's pulling ahead of the lettuce, then

Something needs to be decided soon, Madame Tussauds needs to know if they need more wax, plus they are running out of room in the clown area.

Where's Sunak? Staying in the States and out of the fray. Hardly shows balls.

Yeah, I recall when they said Johnson knew nothing of the Pincher scandal either……
"Great timing by the Ruskies. The UK in chaos"

It happened last month - several home secretaries and a hatful of chancellors ago :-)

Sorry I misspelled Bradey by the way. It should be Brady.

Balls for what? The Werthers Warriors ditched him 6 weeks ago, he owes them nothing.
He’s probably enjoying the fallout as much as anyone else, with a smug, s***-eating grin saying: Told you so!
I'd heard he was just in his constituency up north, Paigntonian, though I can't find any confirmation of that.

No need for him to be nailing theses to the door of No 10, though, he ran for office, he stated his preference for sound finances, and I doubt he's changed his position.
Sky reporting there will be a statement from Number 10 at 1:30.

I’ll take the Sunak stance on this one! PMSL
