Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

Quite an entertaining puzzle; medium difficulty although I had to reverse-engineer three or four of the modified answers to solve.

Agree with emcee but are still puzzling as to how the setter knew that these words were treatable in the required manner.

We rather enjoyed the reverse engineering.

Made an early assumption from part of the message about the treatment which worked well for a number of answers, but then left me struggling for a bit.
I suspect there will have been computer involvement on finding suitable words.

An excellent puzzle - it took quite a while to spot the means of modification and then the few bits of reverse engineering were (as upsetter says) very enjoyable.

Nice clueing and have the message sorted. Still have half of the grid to fill but hopefully it will be a straightforward run. Marvellous piece of engineering.

One of the first (unpublished) puzzles I wrote had this theme. I just dug it out, along with the wordlist I used, and that helped me solve it quickly once the penny dropped. Nudd's is a lot better, as he fitted in more thematic words than I did, and he incorporated the treatment into the clues very neatly.

I remember it took a while to generate, but there are some interesting things in the results list. I don't think it's the last time we'll have seen this gimmick.

Luckily I was able to deduce the transformation after solving a handful of clues, otherwise I would have struggled.

Like others I enjoyed the reverse engineering, and I appreciated the absence of an endgame requiring a combination of Google and telepathy.
