I made soup today and by the time I peeled and grated the turnip and carrots my arm was aching.Can anyone recommend a good auto grater at under £50?

I never grate carrots, turnips or any other veg for a soup. My stick blender copes very well with all types of cooked veg.
If you cook the veg first, then grating is not an issue.
Just get a basic food processor - they all come with a grater blade. Or just chop the eg for soup and cook for a bit longer before blitzing.
Why grate any vegetable for soup. Just chop and cook. Butternut squash is a bit hard to peel but can be cut easily
nuke or bake the vegs and then separate the good bits from the shell/seeds/fibrous bits, add a little stock, blitz them together and add the remaining stock and seasoning.
I make a veg soup with grated carrots. It sort of thickens it without making it a thick soup so I get where zingo is coming from. I only use two carrots so I use one of those graters which has a plastic box underneath it to catch it all, I dont bother getting the food processor out.
I use a stick blender too. You can get the consistency you like without much washing up.
I blend a lot of the soups I make, with a stick blender, but this particular soup has grated carrots (and a lot more veg, not grated) and two beaten eggs mixed with yogurt stirred into it to thicken it and add some extra food value & flavour.
