20d. Monk breaking corporal's cover (to find one here centrally) (7) B - R - E - E. Burmese. Why?
The words in brackets refer to the theme of the puzzle - cats - so aren't really part of the clue.

Monk = me (the name of the setter is Monk)
Corporal's case/cover = burse

ME in BURSE
Question Author
Thank you, quizmonkey. I had completely failed to notice that the setter was Monk, and had failed to find burse in my Chambers. I now see it's lurking in the bursar entry.! Thank you for putting me out of my misery.
